11.5” Long (not including attached cord). Cypress Wood. Imported from Australia.
These Bullroarers are hand painted in Australia by Aboriginal artists.
The bullroarer is swung overhead and emits a peculiar cry.
In Australia the Bullroarer, used mostly in initiation ceremonies,
was believed to be capable of summoning the Great Spirit.
Bullroarers are found in numerous cultures and their significance
varies from making rain among the Maori of New Zealand to
banishing evil in the Navajo tribes of North America.
These particular bullroarers are made in Australia
but are very similar to ones found across the globe.
Leaflet listing various rituals and significances is provided.
Several designs are available:
Kangaroo, Crocodile, Turtle, Echidna, Lizard.
Please check that you are ordering the correct style.

Please Note: The images on the bullroarers are totemic.
Aboriginal totems refer to beings who were ancestral spirits to particular tribes.
As such, totems have less of a mystical meaning and relate more to tribal allegiances.
Nevertheless, information on the appropriate totem will be provided in the leaflet.
